Digi-Key signs global distribution deal with E Ink Sign Digi-Key Corporation has signed a global distribution agreement with E Ink which will allow Digi-Key to offer E-Ink’s innovative, standard segmented displays to the company’s worldwide customer base. E Ink’s electronic paper displays (EPD) offer ultra-low power performance, a small form factor, and rugged operation. The reflective display technology used in EPDs allows display of an image even with no power connected. The technology enables engineers and designers to add displays to products where power and space limitations have made it impossible to do so in the past. Digi-Key Corporation www.digikey.com Samsung’s mid-power LED package available from Rutronik Samsung Electronics has developed a new lineup of middle power LED packages for use in a wide variety of LED lighting applications including LED tubes, LED ambient lighting, downlighting and retrofit lamps. The LM561B series features 160lm/W of light efficacy, which is the highest available among mid-power LED packages worldwide according to the manufacturer, with an electric current rated at 65mA, 5000K CCT (Correlated Color Temperature) and a rating of over 80 CRI (Color Rendering Index). Compared to Samsung’s previous mid-power LED package, the new LM561B achieves a 30% increase in efficiency. This results in reduced energy consumption and improved heat management. The Samsung LM561B product line offers a wide range of color temperatures. It also comes in three brightness levels. Rutronik www.rutronik.com Littelfuse and Arrow Electronics renew EMEA distribution agreement Littelfuse has signed a new distribution agreement for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) with global distributor Arrow Electronics. The new agreement consolidates the presence of Littelfuse across the EMEA region and opens new markets to Littelfuse, including the Middle East and Africa. “We are pleased to expand our relationship with Arrow in Europe, the Middle East and Africa,” said Ian Highley, Vice President & General Manager Semiconductor Products for Littelfuse. “Our unparalleled circuit- protection expertise, industry’s deepest and broadest portfolio of products and best-in-class technical support, combined with Arrow’s global distribution network and broad range of customers, provide growth opportunities for both companies.” Arrow Electronics www.arrow.com Farnell element14 becomes an authorised reseller of Micrel Farnell element14 has formalised the company’s relationship with Micrel, which is a manufacturer of IC solutions for worldwide high-performance analog and high-speed mixed signal, LAN and timing and communications solutions markets, by signing an agreement to become an authorised reseller. The leading multi-channel distributor of electronic components, and part of the Premier Farnell group, is now able to offer an extensive range of Micrel products to its customers with more than 700 items stocked in its global portfolio. Micrel’s product range includes high performance analog, power, advanced mixed-signal and radio frequency semiconductors; high speed communication, clock management, and LAN solutions including Ethernet switch and physical layer transceiver integrated circuits providing customers with the solutions they need. The range of products will be targeted at the cellular handsets, portable and enterprise computing, enterprise and home networking, wide area and metropolitan area networks and industrial equipment segments. Farnell element14 www.farnell.com Plessey Semiconductors signs Chinese distribution deal with Alphatec Plessey Semiconductors has signed a distribution agreement for the Greater China market with Alphatec. The cooperation will market Plessey’s EPIC sensors (Electronic Potential Integrated Circuit) in synergy with Alphatec’s system solutions for applications in the fields of e-health, automotive, sports, fitness and smart lighting. Alphatec’s system solutions will link in with Plessey’s high brightness, MAGIC LED technology that offers cost reductions as it is based on standard silicon wafers rather than expensive sapphire. By expanding Alphatec’s portfolio with Plessey’s technologically advanced RF solutions and Power Management products, Alphatec will be able to offer more complete solutions that will fulfil sophisticated customer requirements. EPIC technology enables the sensor to capture minimal changes of the electric field using a high-precision, non-contact voltmeter within the millivolt region to detect bio-electrical signals (ECG, EMG, EOG, EEG) and changes in electric fields. Plessey Semiconductors www.plesseysemiconductors.com MSC Vertriebs stocks Fujitsu’s latest 1 Mbit and 2 Mbit SPI FRAMs The two new FRAM products MB85RS1MT and MB85RS2MT feature 1 Mbit and 2 Mbit memory densities and are immediately available from MSC. Guaranteeing 10 trillion (10¹³) read-write cycles, these FRAM products are suitable for applications such as smart meters, industrial machinery and medical devices. Compared to identical-density EEPROM, MB85RS1MT and MB85RS2MT reduce power consumption by 92% for writing operations. The new FRAM products can also make substantial reductions to component costs, mounting footprint and power consumption by replacing all of the technologies required for the system, typically consisting of EEPROM, SRAM and a battery – by single chip.
