IoT development board is Sigfox-ready Arrow Electronics has announced the introduction of an Internet of Things (IoT) development board that offers a wide range of sensor and communication interfaces while supporting simple, low power, low cost connection to the Cloud. Based on the popular Arduino form factor, the board includes a Telit SIGFOX module and GPS with embedded antenna for localization. It also leverages Telit’s M2M device management software to facilitate quick and efficient connection of devices to the Cloud. Sigfox uses a UNB (Ultra Narrow Band) based radio technology to connect devices to a global network. UNB requires very low energy usage and UNB devices operate within globally available ISM bands. Combining three sensors in one miniature package – humidity, pressure and temperature, this unique sensor has a best-in-class response time of less than a second for humidity determination, excellent ambient temperature measurement and low energy consumption. A precise altitude measurement function makes this sensor a perfect match for applications such as indoor navigation with floor tracking, where exceptional accuracy, low temperature drift and high resolution are required. Designed specifically for mobile and battery powered applications where space is limited and low power consumption is key, the BME280 has a small footprint of just 2.5x2.5x0.93mm in a space-saving 8-pin LGA package, and a current consumption of only 3.6 μA at 1HZ, and 0.1uA in sleep mode. Acal BFi www.acalbfi.com MSC Technologies to distribute Panasonic’s WLAN-Modules MSC Technologies, a business group of Avnet Electronics Marketing EMEA, is one of the first European Panasonic Distributor to introduce the company‘s PAN90x Series of Wi-Fi modules based on Marvell chipsets. At the introduction of this new WLAN module family, two modules are offered, PAN90x0 Series supporting only the 2,4 GHz Wi-Fi and a second PAN90x5 Series supporting 2.4 GHz WLAN/BT combo module. Both modules support 802.11 b/g/n while the combo module can be used with Bluetooth v4.0 Smart Ready in addition. Prizes will be awarded to the best entries as determined by the judges. The contest is open to individuals and teams of up to five undergraduate and graduate students all accredited universities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. To compete, students must use two or more TI analogue ICs and a TI Processor in their student design project. Based on Huawei HiSilicon chipset technology, the new modules offer features specific for M2M communication. Silica provides in-depth technical support including software support for Huawei modules for their ArchiTech evaluation boards. Silica has indicated that it intends to offer a full range of M2M and IoToriented connectivity products, including sourcing cost-effective air-interface tariffs and connective options that will ensure that wireless data links can be maintained in all circumstances. This high performance controller is suitable for demanding of tasks in multitasking environments with several simultaneous and independent measurement or testing tasks. Developed for use in hybrid PXIe-based test systems, this 3HE controller can be booted in single core mode with turbo boost up to 3.4 GHz. If the system is configured accordingly, data throughput of up to 8 GB/sec is possible.
